[MLS] David Beckham, whose five-year contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy expires at the end of the season, toldreporters in Toronto, where the Galaxy will play Toronto FC on Wednesday, that he could return to MLS next season.

“Yeah, there’s a chance,” Beckham said Tuesday. “I haven’t made anydecision about what I’m going to do after this year. I think it’s important that I just concentrate on my play this year. I feel fit, I feel good in games, I feel as if I’m performing well. I need tocontinue that and then in a few months I’ll think about what I want to do at the end of the day.”

Beckham would like to play in 2012 when London will host the Olympics and Britain willhave a team in the soccer competition.

“I think it’d be something that I’d like to be involved in, and I’d like to be involved in as a player,” Beckham said. “But we’ll have to wait andsee. That’s a year away yet. So we’ll see. I’ll enjoy the rest of this season, you know we’re only five games in. So I’ll enjoy this season and then in the future, we’ll see. It’s going to be a busyyear.”

Beckham has assisted on three of the Galaxy’s five assists this season. Galaxy coach Bruce Arena said Beckham could still be an importantcontributor for the Galaxy.

“At 35, regardless of who you are, you’re at the tail end of your career,” Arena said. “But it doesn’t mean that your career is over and you can’t be a goodplayer. David is still capable of producing game in and game out.”

Arena said Beckham remained an important asset for MLS.

“We’ve played three games on the road this year— we’ve sold out Seattle, Salt Lake and here,” he said. “That’s an example. How many teams in the league have been on the road for their first three or four games and have sold out thebuildings?”

  1. I thought Becks was going to be an investor/operator of an MLS team. Whatever happened to that?

  3. Beckham has been the biggest fraud in American soccer. Let’s be realistic, he just came for the millions of dollars he received and for his wife to parade around Rodeo Drive. As a competitive, elite player he is done. It is all about his image. He will return to the U.S. only to vacation. He does not want to be here…He has not made any contributions to the MLS at all.

  5. Who would want a useless player like him? Let him ponder his fate with the Three Lions team and whatever European club that is foolish enough to take on this poser so that he can pursue his Euro 2012 and WC 2014 fantasy dreams.
