Brookdale won its third consecutive NJCAA Division III women’s national title with a 1-0 victory over Oxford Emory in the final to become the first women’s team at any NJCAA level to win three yearsin a row.

The Jersey Blues broke a scoreless deadlock with just under eight minutes remaining when freshman midfielder Amanda Karabin foundsophomore Simone McEnough with a corner kick, and McEnough’s header beat Oxford Emory goalkeeper Daria Zarzeka.

Brookdale keeper Marti Stewart, the tournament’s Most Valuable Defensive Player, made three saves to record her 14th shutout of the season. Brookdalemidfielder Ashely Cafarella was named tournament MVP, while McEnough was selected as the tournament’s Most Valuable Offensive Player.

Brookdale finished its season with a 19-1-0 record. Oxford Emory’s loss in the final was its only loss of the season It finished 18-1-1.
