[OHIO STATE-MICHIGAN] Tiffany Cameron scored two goals to break the Ohio State single-season scoring record and lead theBuckeyes to a 3-1 win over Michigan in a battle of ranked Big Ten teams Thursday evening at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The loss was the first for the Wolverines in nine conference matches.
“This win definitely boosted our confidence and puts us in a good spot going forward,” Cameron said. “To break the record tonight means a lot but I couldn’t have done itwithout my teammates. They have been great and hopefully this is just another feat in a great season for us.”
The record was previously set at 13 by Swiss star
Michigan then took the 1-0 lead in the 18th minute when
Thingsstayed quiet until the 65th minute when Cameron put the Buckeyes up 3-1 with a header from six yards out off a corner from Megan Fuller.
“As the game becamemore hectic, we found a way to settle down,” OSU coach Lori Walker said. “We were able to get a goal and fight our way back. As we got ahead andfaced a lot of pressure, we were able to calm down. I’m really happy with how we’re playing and the combinations of different players scoring goals and getting assists makes us reallydifficult to stop.”
