The much-maligned Canadian national team program got a boost on Friday with news that it will play five international friendlies between May 24 and Oct. 8, including matches in Toronto andMontreal. That’s two more than Canada played at home in 2009.

Canada begins play on May 24 against World Cup finalist Argentina in Buenos Aires and continues five days later with a matchagainst in Venezuela in Merida.

It will play two home games in September and face 2014 European Championship co-host Ukraine on Oct. 8 in Ukraine.
