Swede Sven-Goran Eriksson, who flopped as Mexico’s national team coach, could be headed back to the World Cup for the third straight time.

Eriksson, who coached England in 2002 and 2006, wants the Ivory Coast World Cup job turned down by Guus Hiddink following the ouster of Bosnian Vahid Halilhodzic.

Eriksson lost out to Swedish compatriot Lars Lagerback for the vacant Nigeria job. Hiscompetition for the Ivory Coast job is believed to be Frenchman Philippe Troussier, who coached South Africa at the 1998 World Cup and co-host Japan at the 2002finals.
