Everton manager Roberto Martinez said he understands fans have a right to be frustrated and express their emotions, but he insisted that Tim Howard still has the support of Everton fansas his EPL career starts to wind down.
“There is a respect towards Tim for what he has done at Everton over the past 10 seasons,” Martinez said. “Down the line, you’ll be lookingback on one of Everton’s greatest goalkeepers and appreciating that he is an ambassador for the club. He will have that legacy.”
Before being sidelined with a knee injury, Howardwas criticized by a segment of the Goodison Park crowd. The American keeper, rumored to be headed to MLS’s Colorado Rapids, hoped to be back in goal against West Bromwich on Saturday. JoelRobles has started 10 games in goal for Everton this season.
