Germany’s 2014 World Cup stars Mats Hummels and Bastian Schweinsteiger are unlikely to start for Germany against Poland, according to coach JoachimLoew. Schweinsteiger scored after coming on as a 90th minute sub Germany’s 2-0 win over Ukraine while Hummels sat the game out with a calf injury, but has returned to training.

“He[Hummels] has trained twice with the team but not for too long,” said Low. “It is important to see his final training session and then we’ll talk to him to decide if he can play or not. I will not runany risk if he has any problems or doesn’t feel 100 per cent. I can’t predict that right now – it will be after the final training [session].”

Schweinsteiger, said Loew, “doesn’t havethe condition for 90 minutes.”
