Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp hinted that he could soon depart the BVB by saying he will miss the club’s fans when he is no longer in charge, following Wednesday’s 2-2draw with Wolfsburg. Dortmund was forced to settle for a point at Signal Iduna Park despite taking the lead twice and spurning a number of chances to seal its third home win in a row.
Neverheless, the BVB faithful chanted Klopp’s name at the end of the match, prompting the coach to bow before them. Asked about this gesture, the German tactician replied: “This was the lasthome game [before the winter break]. And there might come a time in my life when I am no longer the coach of this team. But what I know already is that I will miss them. It’s just extraordinary whatthe fans do here. That’s just fantastic. There are several stadiums with a great atmosphere in the world, but only a few who go wild like that when you are 16th.”
Though Klopp’s contractruns until 2018, he has dropped several hints over the last few months that this could be his last season at Dortmund. At 16th in the table, the Bundesliga club’s record is currently only goodenough for the relegation playoff place in the German first division.
