[FLORIDA-FLORIDA STATE] Tiffany McCarty had a hand in all three goals and Icelandic freshman Dagny Brynjarsdottir had a breakout game to lead No. 9 Florida State to a 3-2 win at No. 8 Florida before 4,671 fans Friday night. The victory was the Seminoles’ fourth in the last fivemeetings in Gainesville.

McCarty tied a career-high with twogoals, both in the second half, including the game-winner in the 72nd minute. The deciding goal came less than five minutes after the Gators had tied the game at 2-2.
McCartyand Brynjarsdottir connected on a great give-and-go for the game-winner. With Brynjarsdottir in the middle of the field, she slotted McCarty running in from the right. McCarty took a touchand one-timed it past a diving Taylor Burke inside the left post for her second goal of the evening.
“Dagny gave me the ball, I playedit back to her and she played a great through pass and I was just thinking get it on frame, get it on frame, we need this goal,” said McCarty. “I just placed it and it wentin.”
Brynjarsdottir, an Iceland international, had an outstanding game for the Seminoles, registering her first career points on a goal — a blast from 18 yards in the fourth minute– and an assist in her first game against the Gators.
“I thought that was an unbelievably great game,” said Gators coach BeckyBurleigh. “It was a great game from both sides, awesome crowd, the whole thing. The whole environment — it felt like a playoff game. It was a really fun game to be a part of — besides theresult.”
