FIFA banned Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio for six games for an outburst against match officials during the Confederations Cup third-place game against Portugal. The suspension will preventhim from coaching in the Gold Cup. If Mexico doesn’t reach the final, Osorio will serve any remaining games of his suspension in World Cup 2018 qualifying, which resumes in September.

FIFA’s disciplinary committee found Osorio guilty of “using insulting words towards the match officials while displaying an aggressive attitude towards them” while arguing a non-call in thethird-place match, which Mexico lost, 2-1. Osorio wanted what he thought was a penalty in favor of Mexico reviewed by the VAR.
