The FIFA ethics crisis intensified Wednesday as two members of FIFA’s governance committee, Navi Pillay and Ron Popper, resigned over the firing of theirchairman, Miguel Maduro. Another member of the committee, New York University School of Law professor Joseph Weiler, quit last week. On May 9, the FIFA Councildecided not to renew the terms of FIFA chief ethics investigator Cornel Borbely and FIFA ethics chief judge Hans-Joachim Eckert.
