Real Madrid TV was one of three networks awarded new high-definition terrestrial digital television channels. The others were awarded to Atresmedia and Mediaset. Licenses were also awarded to threenew standard-definition channels. Being awarded a free-to-air is quite a coup for the Real Madrid brand.
