Giovanni Reyna plays in the youth program of MLS club New York City, for which former U.S. World Cup captain Claudio Reyna serves as SportingDirector.

  1. What a hack load of crap! Haven’t we had enough of find this! How any U.S. SOCCER affiliated coaches are going to keep getting there own relations to the top. So utterly disappointed to hear this. Makes me have no faith in our youth identification system. We don’t have the luxury for this kind of blatant oversight. Get it together US soccer scouting.

  2. No offense to John Hackworth, but has he ever won anything? Seems like his limited playing experience, together with that lack of winning hardware, should preclude him from coaching/developing our next crop of national players. Isn’t there a coach out there who comes from a different mold? Or is this all about the old boy network & managing up? Also, looking through the players from California, you’d think at least one of them would be from the top-ranked team in the country (at least as ranked by gotsoccer–does anyone go by that?).
