In his column for the Independent, former Manchester United center midfielder Paul Scholes asks whether his return from retirement in the spring of 2012 prompted the departure ofPaul Pogba for Juventus. After three years in Turin, Pogba has emerged as one of Juve’s most important players, alongside the likes of Carlos Tevez and Arturo Vidal. However, Scholes notes that when he was asked to come out of retirement to help bolster United’s title charge in 2012, Pogba was not playing well enough to earn a spot in United’s firstteam, so Sir Alex Ferguson was right to sell him to the Italian club.
