After three stylish wins, the USA overcame Canada’s rustic approach to pull out a 1-0 victory and finish 4-0-0 in its fall friendly window, during which Coach Mauricio Pochettino successfully integrated a corps of teenagers into his player pool. Orlando City’s 19-year-old Justin Ellis, who entered camp with one MLS goal to his name, scored the gamewinner for his second USMNT goal. It was set up by Alex Freeman, who led the team in minutes played over the four games, in which all 28 players saw action.

Pochettino’s high-scoring young guns face Canada
The USMNT faces Canada this evening after scoring 11 goals in three games. Seven different players have scored during the run, led by 18-year-old Julian Hall with three goals, while fellow teenagers Cavan Sullivan, Mathis Albert and Justin Ellis have each scored once. Gio Reyna embraces leadership role
It’s been nearly six years since 23-year-old Giovanni Reyna debuted for the U.S. national team. When he earned his 45th cap in Tuesday’s 4-2 win over Chile it marked the first time he started back-to-back USMNT games in more than two years. Reyna, the only player Mauricio Pochettino started against Peru and Chile, set up goals in both wins. After Tuesday’s win in St. Louis, Reyna talked about relating to his new, younger teammates.

Head coach Ciara Crinion named the 21 players who will represent the USA at the Under-17 Women’s World Cup Oct. 17-Nov. 7 in Morocco. Loradana Paletta, who plays in NYCFC’s boys academy, is the youngest at age 15. Back with the team is forward Carolina Reyna, who will become the third member of her family to play in a U-17 World Cup after older brother Gio (2019) and her father Claudio (1989 when it was still a U-16 tournament).

The 23-year–old playmaker Gio Reyna left Borussia Mönchengladbach training camp for France. He will reportedly undergo a medical exam on Monday at Ligue 1 club Strasbourg, which, according to L’Equipe, is prepared to pay a $3.5 million transfer fee.
