[USA 30] After eight days at Princeton University, the U.S. national team — all 30 players still in contention — broke camp Sunday and headed to Connecticutfor Tuesday’s friendly against the Czech Republic at Rentschler Field, where more than 28,000 tickets have been sold.

On Monday, U.S. players will use their stay in the Hartford area tovisit nearby Bristol and the ESPN campus.

Five players — captain Carlos Bocanegra, Landon Donovan, Tim Howard, Oguchi Onyewu and Jozy Altidore —  will take part in what is dubbedas the “car wash,” the filming of interviews and segments to be used for various ESPN networks and programs.

Altidore has already been filmed for one of ESPN’s special “This isSportsCenter” segments …

  1. 28,000 tickets sold….HELP. Mexico plays four games in the USA in their preparation for the World Cup and averages over 60,000 fans. We have to compete for the Spanish speaking fans. Changes in our team pool must respond to this disparity.

  4. I’m curious as to why Clint Dempsey wasn’t chosen by ESPN, and why Altidore, he had a seriously lackluster season? Why not Gomez or Torres? This is the problem with ESPN, Soccer is still just a sideline spectacle to their big four sports. They will promote what and who they think their “mainstream” sports audience will connect with, rather than going after the serious soccer fan. Get ready to hit mute during the World Cup!
