U.S. Soccer and Apple reached an agreement for the final three rounds of the 2024 U.S. Open Cup to be streamed live for free on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

The agreement covers the quarterfinals (July 9-10), semifinals (Aug. 27-28) and final (Sept. 25). The bracket for the final seven games has been set.

The agreement only covers 2024. Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. holds U.S. Soccer media rights but passed on an option to broadcast the 2024 Open Cup.

All early round games in 2024 were carried on U.S. Soccer, MLS and USL streaming channels.

In 2023, the same rounds aired on U.S. Soccer’s YouTube channel as well the Bleacher Report App and B/R Football’s YouTube channel and CBS Sports’ then new Golazo Network.

CBS Sports Network and the Golazo Network as well as U.S. Soccer Spanish-language partner Telemundo aired the 2023 final won by the Houston Dynamo over Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami.

Paul Kennedy is the Editor in Chief & General Manager of Soccer America.

    1. $12 per month for the pass if you subscribe to Apple TV. $15 if you don’t.

I am still upset at ESPN for starting this whole subscription model. I refuse to pay for any streaming subscriptions at all. Streaming used to be included in the cable subscription. They stripped content from the cable channel that I had paid for and put it behind a streaming paywall. They wanted me to pay extra for content I had already bought. The problem is that consumers have no power. The streamers have exclusive content–i.e., no competition. So they can raise the prices any time they want, as often as they want. There is very little price competition in the US economy. Been missing since about 1990. This is how almost all the wealth in the US economy shifted to only 2 percent of the population. There is no upper middle class any more. Small businesses no longer exist in most areas of the economy. Instead we have a “service class” of wage earners. Overall average real wages are down about 5 percent over the last 40 years.

  1. Bob, I watch what offered i on Youtube, like specifically Messi vs some MLS team just played…
I don”t subscribe to watch MLS, unless there is a free game like InterMiami vs ? just to watch Messi, Busquets, etc…Other than that I’m not wasting energy cost to watch MLS soccer..
