Spaniard Unai Emery, most recently coach of three-time Europa League defending champion Sevilla, has signed a two-year contract with Paris St Germain. He replaces Laurent Blanc, who had parted companywith PSG after three seasons in charge.

“It is with great pride that I agreed to become the Paris St Germain coach,” Emery said in a statement. “The club has become one of the biggest in Europeover the past few seasons and I am both happy and honoured to be able to help realise its great ambitions.”

Blanc guided PSG to its second successive domestic treble by (Ligue 1, the French Cup,League Cup) but club president Nasser al Khelaifi described the 2015-16 season as a failure because of the club’s fourth-straight quarterfinal elimination from the Champions League.
