Let’s take a trip back to January 1990, and a miserable Tuesday evening in east London. A friend of mine, a Manchester City fan, persuaded me to go with him to watch his team at The Den, Millwall’s intimidating home ground. It was my first visit, and I never went back, not even when they moved to the New Den, a brand new and reportedly less terrifying venue.
