We’re in for another full slate of MLS action this weekend! Here are five players you should be keeping a close eye on on Matchday 10!
Nicolas Fernandez Mercau (New York City FC)

New York City FC has found its newest star in Nicolas Fernandez Mercau. With two goals against FC Cincinnati midweek, the Argentine is the fourth player in club history to score 10 goals within his first 20 regular-season appearances.
NYCFC has been without star striker Alonso Martinez since midway through last year, when the Costa Rican striker tore his ACL. He’s one of the league’s premier goal-scorers, and they’ve had to do a lot of chopping and changing to find a replacement No. 9.
Coach Pascal Jansen has recently opted on a rotation of “false nines,” with Fernandez Mercau playing out of position up front. That hasn’t hindered his production, and he’s improving by the week. With eight goals from nine matches this season, he’s on fire, and will be licking his chops at the chance to attack a porous Montreal backline on Saturday.
Tai Baribo (D.C. United)
