Joe Corona scored Tijuana’s goal in a 1-1 tie with Liga MX leader Monterrey.

The 33-year-old Californian was making his third appearance for Tijuana since joining Xolos from the now-defunct San Diego Loyal after the 2023 USL Championship season.

Corona, whose other past clubs include the LA Galaxy, Houston Dynamo and Club America, started his pro career with Tijuana in 2010. He earned 23 U.S. caps in 2012-2018.

Brandon Vázquez went the full 90 for Monterrey in his return to Tijuana, where he also started his pro career.
